The visual image analysis panel has the
following elements:
|
|

|
|
1 - Project file
listing
Shows all files currently selected for processing in the active
project.
|
2
- Image information group box
Provides detailed information about the currently selected
file.
| Dimensions |
The
height and width of the image in pixels. |
| Frame
Count |
The
number of individual frames within the image. Animated GIF and
multi-page TIFF files have a frame count higher than 1. For
more information about analyzing multiframe images, see
Analyzing multiframe images. |
| File
Type |
The
file type of the image. GIA detects the actual file type
independently of the file name's extension. For instance, a
JPG file that has been renamed to 'index.gif' will still show
JPG as the file type. |
| File
Size |
The
file size in bytes or kilobytes. |
| Word
Count |
The
number of words contained in the selected image. The word
count can be entered manually or determined automatically by
transcribing the text in the Source text box (see item 4). |
| Localizable |
This
box is checked automatically when entering text in the Source
text box. It can also be checked manually to indicate localizable
contents. |
| Image
Fragment |
Check
this box when the selected file is part of a larger image.
This often happens when larger image files are saved in
smaller chunks to optimize download speeds. |
| Complex
Image |
Check
this box when the selected file will likely present challenges
during localization. For instance, the image may be
densely packed with text, contain multiple overlapping image
elements, or present other internationalization challenges. |
| Screen
Capture |
Check
this box, when the selected file is a screen capture (also
referred to as a "screen shot"). Screenshots are
typically localizable images, but need to be recaptured from
the localized interface rather than edited in an image editing
software package to reflect the foreign language text. |
| Multiframe
/ Animated |
This
box is checked automatically by GIA when the selected file
contains more than one frame. For
more information about analyzing multiframe images, see
Analyzing multiframe images. |
|
3
- Comments box
Lets you enter comments pertaining specifically to the selected
file. You can right- click into the comments text box to display a
list of ready-made comments covering a variety of the most
frequently encountered image globalization challenges.
|
4
- Translatable text box
Provides source and targets text boxes as well as a font
selection control and an Auto-Copy mechanism.
| Source
text box |
Use the source text box to transcribe localizable text from the
image. |
| Target
text box |
After the strings have been translated, choose the
target text box to display the translated string together with the
source image for reliable cut- and- paste processing in another
image editing application. |
| Font
selector |
The font selection control lets you assign the font of your choice
to both the source and targets text boxes. Keep in mind that text
that appears to be garbled or is displayed with "boxes" or
other placeholder characters may simply require an adjustment of the
display font.
|
| Enable
Auto-Copy |
Use Auto-Copy to automatically copy text from the source to the target text box. This will facilitate use of the GIA project XML file with translation memory products. |
|
5
- Image display area
Displays the currently selected image.
|
6
- Zoom control
Lets you zoom in and out on the currently
selected file. Check the Force Resize box to constrain the
image to the available picture box size.
|
7
- Project summary
Displays a running count of images by file type and category as
well as a total word count and total file count in the currently
active project.
